How to Set Up a New User in History Link
History Link administrators can create new user accounts and assign the appropriate security permissions to provide access to the system.

Setup History Link User
Before You Begin
Before creating a new user, gather the following information:
- User's first and last name
- Username
- Email address
- Required access level and security permissions
Note: Only users with administrative privileges can create or modify user accounts.

Create a New User
- Log in to History Link using an administrator account.
- Navigate to the Administration or User Management area.
- Select Add New User.
- Enter the user's information, including:
- Username
- First Name
- Last Name
- Email Address
- Assign the appropriate security role(s) and permissions.
- Save the new user account.
Assign Security Roles and Permissions
When creating a new account, be sure to assign the appropriate access based on the user's responsibilities.
Examples may include:
- Standard User Access
- Inquiry/View Only Access
- Administrator Access
- Department-Specific Access
Grant only the permissions necessary for the user to perform their job functions.
User Login Information
Once the account has been created:
- Verify that the user's email address has been entered correctly.
- An automated email will be sent from no-reply@resnav.com prompting the user to create their password.
- The user should open the email and follow the instructions to set up their password.
- After creating their password, the user can log in using their assigned username and newly created password.
Note: If the user does not receive the account setup email:
- Confirm the email address on the user account is correct.
- Verify the user account is active.
- Check Spam, Junk, Clutter, or Quarantine folders.
- Ask your IT department to allow emails from no-reply@resnav.com.
