What Should I Do If My HistoryLink Verification Code Does Not Arrive?
Troubleshoot missing HistoryLink verification emails and gather the details needed for support.
If your HistoryLink verification code does not arrive, first search Junk Email for the subject HistoryLink Verification!, add securityservices_noreply@resnav.com to your safe senders, and request a new code.
Before you begin
Confirm that HistoryLink is sending the code to the mailbox you are checking. The email address on your account may be an older work address, an alias, or a shared mailbox.
Start with these steps
- Open Junk Email and search for HistoryLink Verification!. Searching without the exclamation mark also works.
- If you find a code in Junk Email, do not use it because it may have expired. Select the message, choose Not junk, and note that it was found there.
- Go to Settings > Mail > Junk email > Safe senders and domains, then add securityservices_noreply@resnav.com.
- Return to HistoryLink and request a new verification code.
If the new code still does not arrive
- Check all recent codes in Junk Email. If you requested several codes, sort by date and record how many arrived and how many did not.
- Check quarantine on a work or Microsoft 365 account. If your organization permits it, visit Microsoft 365 quarantine and request a release. If access is blocked, contact your IT or email administrator.
- Search every folder. Search for HistoryLink Verification, set the scope to All folders, and clear any date filter. Check Deleted Items and Archive.
- Review blocked senders. Go to Settings > Mail > Junk email. Remove the sender address or resnav.com from Blocked senders and domains if present.
- Review mailbox rules. Go to Settings > Mail > Rules. Look for rules or Sweep settings that match the sender, domain, or subject and then move, archive, or delete the message.
- Check the Other tab. If Focused Inbox is enabled, automated messages may appear under Other. Focused Inbox settings are under Settings > Mail > Layout.
Information to request from your IT team
Ask your IT team to run a message trace for securityservices_noreply@resnav.com covering the time you requested the code. Ask them to provide the result and to review whether the sender should be added to the tenant allow/block list.
What to send to ResNav Support
- The email address on your HistoryLink account and whether it is a shared mailbox, alias, or forwarding address.
- The date, time, and time zone for two or three login attempts when no code arrived.
- Whether other ResNav email reaches you normally.
- The result of each troubleshooting check, including checks that found nothing.
- The message trace from your IT team. If that is unavailable, provide the complete message headers from a code that previously arrived.
Send these findings to your usual ResNav support contact. The verification sender address is unattended, so replies sent to it are not read.
Outlook menu differences
Menu names may differ between Outlook.com, the new Outlook, and the classic desktop app. If a path does not match your screen, search Outlook settings for the bolded setting name.
